First of all (moving forward) I will port some of the simpler games (Offender, The Gatekeeper, Haxatron 2000) to HTML5 (HTML5/JS/Edge Animate –maybe Edge Animate), and release a HTML5 version tutorial + source code for them. I’m very excited about doing this! It’s going to be awesome… Stay tuned! More (HTML5/JS/ect… related) source code/tutorials are on the way. :) Secondly, I finally found the time to release the sourcefiles for the microsites done for Tetrageddon Games. I created these in Edge Animate, seeing that there is little to no Edge Animate examples, tutorials, out there (it’s very new) I believe...

Introduction to iAd in Flash AIR for iOS – Kick Start Tutorial & Samples
Sourcefiles for the tutorials are here. SUMMARY It can be very confusing to know where to start when you want to add advertisements in your Flash/AIR based iOS app. Google search results can be ambiguous at best, and there are a number of free solutions out there, but little or no support. The most recommended pay for solution is Milkman Games’s iAd for iOS Extension. There are also a number of others (like Smaato For Android and iOS ) for pay, but I’m a firm believer in that “if they do it, I should be able to do it too”....

All of its sourcefiles, sounds, classes, etc… are in the new directory here: http://nathalielawhead.com/sourcefiles/Tetrageddon_BloodsportTetris/ Do visit the /as directory, because that’s where all the hot sexy action is: http://nathalielawhead.com/sourcefiles/Tetrageddon_BloodsportTetris/as/ And, in-case you don’t like plain text links or whatever, the website now has that shiny golden “Download Source”...

The Big Gib successfully passed Apple’s review process, and was added to the App Store today! You can buy it here: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/the-big-gib-spacecom-chapter-1/id824106338?ls=1&mt=8 And now I will have to launch an update to fix the dyslexic error in that main image. :) …Until then, it’s “artsy”. Description: The Big Gib takes place in the year 20xx after humanity uploaded itself into cyberspace because the Communists have won. You play as one of SpaceCom’s elite cyberspace commanders tasked to clean the internet up. In this case, an unauthorized tourney took place creating a dangerous influx of gibs. The gibs are now DOS-ing...

Yesterday Haxatron 2000 was approved for the App Store. It’s FREE, and you can download it here. Visit the new website here. I was hoping there wouldn’t be any issues with the description I provided for it (a bit ARG/in character), and there wasn’t! So I was able to make the website I wanted to make for it. I finished that today. I wanted the website, and it’s overall presentation, to be very serious. Like it’s an actual widely used enterprise solution. A touch of something you would expect from an ARG… Who knows. Maybe in the future I’ll build...

To begin, here’s an awesome announcement… ALL of Tetrageddon Games AppStore games will be FREE over this Valentines Day weekend! That’s FREE this 14th – 17th. Store link: https://itunes.apple.com/us/artist/nathalie-lawhead/id618430407 Happy Valentines Day everyone! Now that I’ve gotten that off my chest… While working on porting my next game (The Big Gib) to iOS things can get lonely during those long test & re-build filled hours, so I’ve taken on the task of making a microsite for each of my games. Each site will offer a more elaborate description of the game/project (further information), both game-play & game trailers, as well...

Recently my game They Came From My Inbox was approved and added to the App Store. I’m also pleased to announce that it was not rejected once! For any Reason! Which is an amazing relief because I was expecting the theme to conflict with something legal… Consequently, it is safe to say that more internet related game madness will continue to come. Buy the game here! Play the desktop version here. About the game: They Came From My Inbox is a mix of jokes and impressions based on various internet sub-cultures, and popular net-icons. You assume the roll of email...

My newest illustration added to the art shop is The Rainbow Sax. I adore how it turned out, so I want to show it off here as well! :) It got me thinking that it would be awesome if I did a series like this with various instruments (Update: I’m doing a series)… Well… if you like it, click here to visit the shop (and buy it)! Update: I’m making a series of instrument in the style. Here’s the rainbow violin. Buy the print here. Rainbow trumpet. Click here to buy the print. Rainbow guitar. Click here to buy the...

As per the previous post, I had worked on creating merchandise for ALL my games (which turned into quite the endeavor). A couple Offender 2 mugs came in today, and the quality was beautiful. Definitely worth it! I wanted to post pictures of the finished product for quite a while. I think the designs turned out well. Offender 2 (World War B: War On Rabbits) Mugs: Click here for high-res. I finished designing merchandise for ALL the games from Tetrageddon Games. There was so much to choose from. I’m impressed. These are very graphically loaded games. The designs are available in my society6 shop. There is much more in the store, so do check it out! You can buy them on a variety of products (shirts, hoodies, mugs, skins and cases, etc…) so I designed a custom variation for each. It was a bit of work, but definitely worth it. All the designs are also available for download (high quality .jpg’s and .png’s) here: http://nathalielawhead.com/press/ArtPrints/ This is a good start,...

The website for Tetrageddon Games has been relaunched. LINK: http://tetrageddon.com The endeavor began with making a mobile compatible site. I’ve tried a number of approaches to it, and wasn’t happy with how it was turning out, until I decided to give Edge Animate a shot. I’ve fallen in love with the program since. It’s simply adorable, and reminds me of how early versions of Flash where. It’s certainly something worth keeping an eye on, and I think it’s the beginning of something great. At any rate, I’m proud of how the site turned out. It’s an early iteration of where...

I’m writing this to make a brief update, and extend a warm thank you for everyone’s support. Offender 2 has been featured/written about on Indie Statik, and Bit Maiden. This is amazing! Both of these places are really cool review sites, with a great indie game selection. They are definitely worth checking out. I have been writing editors of online publications. Maybe I’ll (eventually) compile a list of places that feature indie games so as to help other people doing the same. After you’re done (solo) creating your game (which is a lot of work already), you promote it (which...

The trailer for Offender 2 is now live, and on the game’s website. It turned out better than expected, and has a little look/feel from Stanley Kubrick’s Dr. Strangelove trailer. It’s a bit of a nod to it. I loved that movie. Overall it’s exactly what I wanted. More of a stand-alone miniature animation, with a story and script, than an outright trailer. Download the .mov HERE. You can also view the full quality .swf version in all its lossless vector glory HERE. Which I recommend. If you haven’t done so already, play the game! Official Launch! It’s live! CLICK HERE TO PLAY It seems like I’ve been working on this forever, and this is one of the largest, most complex projects I’ve done… I created this game all on my own… saying it almost feels like an understatement. I want to grab you by your shirt collar, violently shake you, and say “No! You just don’t understand!” The endeavor involved creating the engine (coding, debugging), creating the artwork, animating the artwork, then producing music, sound, and voice acting for it (all my voice as well). I’m particularly proud of the music. I composed it...

I am excited to say that the game is now DONE! I’ve moved production to the website and trailer. The website is well underway also, with quotes from notable and highly respected representatives of the Extraterrestrial community, who support the game (and its cause). Needless to say, I will be launching soon! Click here for desktop background. Remember Defender; that popular arcade shooter of the 1980’s? Well, how do you think we Aliens felt about it? Sponsored by The Intergalactic Foundation For Non-Anthropomorphic Rights, Offender is a game made from the Alien’s point of view. Note: As a consequence of...
Every time I program the soundtrack for one of my games I get inspired with how I could perfect the engine for music. I know that a long term goal will be to program a composer. It’s my personal creative crusade. :) I want to create something that, with some degree of intelligence, really “makes” music while you play. Although realizing that goal is still a ways off, I’m very proud of my current achievement. Offender 2 development has covered a lot of ground since my last blog post update. One of the advantages of creating your own music is...

I’m happy to say that I’ve finished all the artwork, animation, and coding for Offender 2, and I’ve been busily working on the final stage of development: music (and sounds). It’s been a whirlwind of creativity, and the direction the music has gone is both spooky and humorous. I’m happy with the quality, and it has added a lot to the game. Playing the finished portions of it is really something, to say the least. I love how it takes itself serious, and is so ridiculous at the same time. You’re not sure if you want to laugh, or slip...

This is a simple example that I’m throwing up here because it may help some googler looking for a quick solution (just strip out the trace and txt_output). This lets you set an alphanumeric (letters and numbers) character as a desired “keyboard shortcut” which is saved for use throughout your game (or application). I’m currently working on the “settings” area for (if you haven’t heard yet, I love saying the title) my upcoming game, Offender 2 (World War B: War on Rabbits). For those that are interested I have a gallery of the game’s artwork here: http://offender2.alienmelon.com/artwork/ which I’m continuously...
