Interdimensional Games Inc : iDGi

The latest project I’ve had the privilege of collaborating on has been a hybridized ARG meets online experience meets viral marketing. It’s a marketing initiative to create an alternate reality to promote their IP because, as the founder will put it “we want people to escape into this [the IP] world, NOT be reminded of our own”… so far they’re doing one hell of a job, and are quite the group of innovative visionaries to work with. The goal is to make an online experience packed with rabbit-holes, hidden content, and easter eggs, that visitors can loose themselves in, in-order to slowly introduce the world to what they’ve really got brewing on the “big game end”. Check it out!

(Do wait for the eclipse to find the interdimensional portal.)

As their press release puts it:

“Incorporated in September 2006, Interdimensional Games Inc (iDGi) is an association of self-driven and talented individuals who are collectively working together to push the boundaries of interactive single player entertainment.

Story telling is a pastime that we have been obsessed with for our entire existence as a species. While books, theater and speech have been the dominant form of story telling throughout most of history, the early 20th Century brought us film. Through film we have been able to weave complex and emotional stories that are able to accurately portay any setting in the world, in any time period, to effectively immerse and engage people in ways never before possible. Television followed, through which story driven episodic “television shows” have faciliated the forging of some of the most epic stories ever told.

The 21st Century will be the century of digital interactive entertainment. Like the invention of films, interactive entertainment is an entirely new medium, and we are beginning to realize the limitless possibilities for story telling that exist through this medium.

iDGi is exploring these possibilities, and through our episodic series, codenamed “projectb6″, we will be offering you the results of our explorations… ”

This has been done within the time-frame of about two months (flash sites, forum, blog). I did all the Flash and coding. It’s been an absolute blast and there’s lots brewing on that end so do visit often!
