One of the many things I miss about LA is hip-hop. Not only the music but the life-style and strong consciousness that drives that scene. I miss the open-mindedness, the critical outlook on everyday life, and the poetry… And no. There is absolutely nothing like that here (I currently live in the tiny eastern-European country of Slovak… ehem, Slovenia). It’s small to say the least. Go for a walk, people hear you speaking English, and they immediately take to reciting their favorite Night Rider quotes… which isn’t that bad… but the prevalent small-town mentality here really kills me sometimes. Especially the “hip-hop” scene here (I can hardly call it that with a straight face). It’s… well… corny enough to outshine all the “brothaz” on wiggaz.com.
